Tarot Bridging
Now, on to our monthly
activity; this month’s exercise is for those of you with a Tarot deck
of your own. This is a good way to create a relationship with your deck,
and to get acquainted with the individual cards- It's “Tarot
Bridging”.
First, look through your deck and find the card that most suits
your life at this moment. You
may choose this card simply by what the picture says to you, or by the
card meaning, either from a book or from your own understanding of what
this card means. Next
choose a second card that shows the desired outcome, how you would like
to feel, or what you would like to have happen.
Then,
go through your deck and choose the cards you need to form a
“bridge” from your first card to your second card, from your current
situation to your desired outcome. I usually find three cards is a good
number. Then meditate on
the lessons the cards have for you. Let the cards create a map which you
can follow, to achieve your goal or desire.
When you are in daily life you can think back to the picture or
the message of the card, and it gives you a concrete image to cling to.
I happen to have a Universal Rider Waite
Deck, and that is featured in these examples.
For the Tarot Bridging examples below I
chose two common life issues-- relationship misunderstandings and career
frustration.
A Bridge for conflict in love-
This card is chosen to represent
problems and conflicts in a relationship. The outcome card chosen
for this series is The Lovers. This bridge starts in conflict, and
ends in harmony. |
This first card shows
a person organizing the problems, sorting out the conflicts and
dealing with them one by one. |
This card shows a person
looking over the past, seeing how they came to this point, and
planting seeds for a future. |
In this card we take the
lessons we've learned from organization, from contemplation, and
turn these lessons to the relationship. |
And finally, the desired
outcome. Understanding and partnership instead of conflict. |
This next bridge is for Career Frustrations- |
This card is chosen to
represent the feeling of working hard, but not getting ahead. The
outcome card chosen for this series is The Chariot. This bridge
starts in feelings of impotence, and ends in taking the reigns of the
future. |
Here we see someone
building, working from a plan. There is a blueprint which is
being followed. |
Here is the Magician.
He takes the plans from the head, and brings them into this
world. Transforming a blueprint which existed only in the
mind, and bringing it to the world. |
This card continues the
theme of transformation. It takes action, a change of
attitude, and a commitment to stir things up and make something
happen in the career. |
And finally, the desired
outcome. An approach to a career that is active rather than
passive. |
